A week between September and October, sunshine and rain, healthy and with a cold. In short, a week of changes.
Autumn can definitely no longer be overlooked. The month of October is emblazoned on the calendar and the leaves of more and more trees are turning yellow, orange or red. The days are getting noticeably shorter and I’ve caught my first cold. The plants on my balcony are still in bloom, so I don’t feel like clearing it and preparing it for winter just yet. But the winter bloomers, the Christmas roses, are sprouting and are obviously preparing for their appearance. No matter. None of this can be stopped and so all we can do is accept everything as it is. Embracing the present instead of mourning the past.
Pink letters and pink blossoms
Taking mor time for the usual things
This time of change brings with it a great deal of beauty. As I wasn’t supposed to go running due to my cold, but at the same time didn’t want to be indoors all the time, I went for walks almost every day to get some fresh air. Walking at a slower pace scores fewer points on the fitness scale, but gives you more time to discover and observe what you come across along the way.
Pastel blue moments
That special mood of fall in the air
I like how the colors change. Not just the obvious, the coloring of the leaves on the trees and bushes. It’s the light of the lowering sun in combination with the clouds that somehow gives everything a new touch. The whole world has autumn in it. A kind of poetry. My state of health helps me to celebrate the season. Spending the dark evenings cozy at home, with tea and a book on the sofa. With candles and quiet music. The beautiful side of retreating back inside.
Different views of fall
Diving into memories
Only when it comes to work am I still wallowing in summer. I’m working on more mountain pictures. To do this, I’m going through the countless photos I took last summer. Working with these pictures always takes me back to the places where they were taken. Like on the banks of the Lai da Rim, for example. I smell the scent of the grass where we were resting to enjoy the view over the crystal blue lake. I hear the sound of the bells of the sheep on the other lakeshore in the otherwise silent mountain landscape. It’s nice when you can internalize such moments in your work and then incorporate them into a painting forever.
