Rainy Days never say goodbye
The new week marks the beginning of a new month and the start of the second half of the year. Sunny summer hasn’t really arrived yet, but the alternatives also give reason to be happy.
It’s crazy how quickly the weeks go by and I sometimes wonder if there’s anything I can do to make it feel less like that. I could certainly optimize it by organizing my days a little more differently. Break out of the daily grind every now and then and go somewhere. Days with a slightly different routine and new impressions make you more aware of time and make it feel longer. I always resolve to do it…next week or the week after. Constant appointments and my convenience always prevent me from doing so.
City runs instead of mountain hikes
Although the plan this week was to spend 2 days hiking in Liechtenstein. Unfortunately, the weather threw a spanner in the works and the week was again dominated by rain. So I stayed in Basel again and went about my usual daily routine. These were nevertheless enriched with some great moments, nice encounters and beauty in a wide variety of places. Right on Monday, I fell in love with the yellow of the golden sheafs that bloom in containers in the harbor. Yellow is not really my color when it comes to flowers. But I never want to exclude anything and be open to what I don’t immediately prefer. All these wild flowers that are blooming everywhere. I can’t get enough of enjoying them. I find the combination of nature and urban living space there at the harbor so inspiring. Art and nature, freedom and creativity, two things that like each other and that I love to surround myself with.
Thriving everywhere
The progression of the year is also noticeable in the berries on the bushes, which have only just blossomed and are now starting to turn red. So much growth, so much change in such a short space of time. And always nature in the middle of the city. It takes so little and could be so much more.
The joy of getting wet
I ended the week with pure wet nature as well. I was surprised by a thunderstorm on my run on Saturday. When I left home, there was just a dark line on the horizon, far out over the hills of France. I thought I would easily make it before these clouds arrived in Basel. But half an hour later it got dark and in the middle of my run the heavens opened up and it started to pour with rain. After initially seeking shelter under a roof – partly because of the lightning – it eventually became clear that it was going to rain for a long time while the thunder and lightning subsided. So I kept running and was soaked to the skin in less than a minute. That’s when the fun began. Embracing the rain falling on your skin. Stepping into the puddles of water that you can’t avoid anyway. Once you’re wet, you can only enjoy it all. If the sun doesn’t want to, then we just take the rain. At this time of year, when it’s warm and with just the few sports clothes on, it’s really fun.
