After two active weeks, the last few days have felt more like everyday life. Although everyday life in New York always feels exciting somehow.
I actually find it a luxury to be able to live everyday life here in New York. Without the pressure of having to do anything, sightseeing or shopping for example. Just living the life of most people in this city. Start the morning with sport, a workout at home (I don’t spend enough time here to subscribe to a gym) or even better, a jog in Central Park or Riverside Park. Then I shower, have breakfast and head to my studio to work. In between, I do things in the city at my leisure. And every time I’m outside, I discover something new somewhere. Some people who stand out because of their appearance or their charisma. The different people who gather in an average subway car alone turn a 10-minute ride into an experience. It seems as if the whole world is at home here and I know of no other place where you can get a better overview of the whole of humanity than in the New York subway.
Random things
Never the same
The diversity continues in the streets of the city. This time it’s the diversity of architecture. The different architectural styles that come together to form a whole. The structures, the shapes, the colors. The perspective changes with every step, everything looks completely different, new details stand out. It’s almost like hiking in the mountains, where everything changes its appearance as you walk. Here, as there, it is exciting to turn around and look back every now and then. Suddenly you perceive what you have just seen in a completely different way.

Celebrating Switzerland
Due to the heatwave in the first half of the week, my time outdoors was relatively short, so I didn’t take many photos. All the more enjoyable were the walks in Central Park, where it was also worth taking a turn off the beaten track onto new paths. Whether you walk over or under a bridge is a completely different experience. I also jogged under the Winderdale Arch because its decoration reminded me of the Swiss flag and the first of August is the Swiss national holiday, we celebrated with Swiss Raclette and dear friends.

Everything comes to an end
The week ended with the end of this short summer stay, which was anything but boring. On the one hand, the things I did seem a long time ago, but on the other hand, I still don’t feel any desire for the other side of life in Basel. When you have two homes that you love and where you enjoy spending time, saying goodbye is always tinged with nostalgia. In any case, I would have liked to stay for longer.
