This week not only marked the end of the meteorological summer, but also the end of my own summer program.
September! Somehow a somewhat magical month. Or a melancholic one. At least for me. Summer is coming to an end and it is beginning to be felt. The sun has less power and the nights are getting chilly. You suddenly realize that something beautiful is coming to an end. And I’m getting a year older. But for me, September is always also about new beginnings. During all the lovely weeks on the road, ideas and inspirations came to mind. Now starts the time to address and implement them. The energy that has built up over the last few weeks has resulted in a list full of things to do.

Back for good in Basel
However, the end of the vacation period also means it’s time to dive back into everyday life. While the last few weeks have been filled with spectacular shots of great landscapes and impressions from different places around the world, life is now taking place in Basel again and mainly in my studio. What remains are the daily escapes from this everyday life. A jog on a different route to the one I’m used to. A coffee break by the Rhine and people-watching or a stroll through the city after work.

The small things again
Being open to discoveries that happen around you. The special light that falls on a flower at that very moment, interesting cloud formations in the sky or simply perceiving a different section of the familiar. As we all know, nothing is as it seems and everything can be interpreted in different ways – the common thread that runs through my art and my philosophy of life. I try to train my awareness in this way by seeking out the small treasures in everyday life and making them big for me.
