Lots of work, little spectacle

Another week in which a lot went on under the surface, but nothing significant worth reporting on.

Sitting down to write about the past week is always a moment of reflection. Looking back on the last few days and coming to some kind of conclusion. I limit my weekly reviews to the photos I have taken, my artistic work and my thoughts on art as well as my outlook on life in general. However, my days consist of other activities as well, which take up more or less time, but it seems out of place to report on them here. It only becomes critical in phases when this work has taken up a lot of space. Then I don’t really know what to write here. It should be entertaining and informative as well as on-topic. I’m not an influencer and I don’t feel called upon to provide content when there is none. Every life has phases in which there is a lot going on and others that are less spectacular. For me, weeks like these are still successful. I have initiated and implemented a lot of things that are part of future projects. A small exhibition in December and the next stay in New York are also casting their shadows ahead.

The freedom of new things

I invested the little time I had left to work on the art in another prototype of a woven image. Familiarizing yourself with new techniques is always very time-consuming. What you imagine is not always as feasible in the end as you had planned. But with every attempt, you discover new ways to approach things and acquire new skills almost unnoticed. So even if the end result is unsuccessful, you are left with a good feeling. I find this process of trial and error exciting. You are completely free in your development, there are no guidelines and you remain curious about the result of the way you approach a problem. Curiosity is a skill that makes life interesting.

Rainy days and golden moments

What contributed to the fact that not many photos were taken this week was the bad weather. Too many rainy days which led me to limit my time outdoors to a minimum. However, the dry moments compensated for the gray times in the best possible way. Late October came up with vibrant and warm shades of autumn leaves, which literally gilded the only jog I did this week. And during the wet and gray hours, there was time to get on with my reading. I’ve finally finished the Thomas Mann biography and can now start new books I bought a few weeks ago.
