A week to myself
While the weather in Basel is rainy and windy, I’m enjoying another sunny week in New York before my return journey.
Back to unspectacular
After our friends left on Sunday evening, there was a certain emptiness. It’s just nice to be with uncomplicated people you like and with whom you always have a lot to laugh about. On the other hand, I was able to take possession of my studio again and spend my days working there. The week was then also characterized by the unspectacular days that I had already mentioned in the last weekly review. As a result, this week I only took pictures of environments that I have photographed several times before. However, never at this time of year and so they still have something new in them.
Nothing is the same twice.
Monday morning I started the week with a run in Central Park. As I usually run in Riverside Park and have only ever run there this time, Central Park was a slightly different experience. And by that I mean that new things simply catch my eye, even if I’ve already passed them at other times of the year.
The statue of Hamilton for example comes to mind, standing in front of a tree with red berries, which made a wonderful backdrop. Or the people enjoying the fall foliage and the warming rays of the sun. And the famous view over the Jacqueline Onassis Reservoir to the Upper West Side has a completely different atmosphere in fall than in summer.
Time for friends and family
The weekend was once again dominated by friends and relatives from here. Saturday we had breakfast together at home and then a trip to New Jersey to have lunch with family. I love the train ride and am always amazed by the view of the city that it offers. These countless water arms and reed beds interspersed with industrial buildings.
…and a bit of shopping
At the last minute I got into the shopping mood and we went clothes shopping in Midtown after returning from New Jersey.
A last run in Riverside Park
On Sunday I went for another run in Riverside Park. It was the first day that I was hit by the cold Hudson wind that is so characteristic of runs along the river in winter. Nevertheless, I enjoyed doing another run there, also because it was my last run for this time here in New York City. Since lunch with another friend was on the program afterwards, this run was sorely needed. Back in Basel, I should definitely eat a little less 😉.
